Yesterday, September 18th, the parents of world-famous motivational speaker Nick Vujicic landed in Serbia. They are visiting the country while Nick holds speaking events in the country. Seeing pictures of the Vujicic family meeting their Serbian hosts in the Belgrade airport reminded me of the huge impact just one family can have when returning to the country from which they draw their heritage. Nick Vujicic speaks all around the world—the man literally has no limits. But he has chosen to spend the next week in the land of his parents and grandparents. I believe Nick will find something comforting about being in a place so familiar to him; and I know that because most Serbians would consider Nick a “Serb” simply because he has a drop of Serbian blood in his vains, his words of encouragement will hold more weight than just any other foreign speaker. Nick Vujicic’s visit to Serbia should encourage anyone with roots in another culture to use those cultural and family connections to make an impact in communities abroad. I believe that emigrates of developing countries and descendants of emigrates of developing countries can change the world through philanthropy in the countries from which they came. Many thanks to everyone who joined us last night!! We had a wonderful evening raising money for a wonderful cause!
