Xristos voskrese! Happy Easter to all of our friends and family! May you be filled with joy, hope, and revival today!
Interestingly, this year Orthodox and Catholic Easter fall on the same day . . . which means our American friends won’t wonder why we’re still celebrating Easter weeks from now like we do almost every other year!
On Wednesday, Serbian Patriarch Irinej addressed Christians worldwide in his Easer address. We usually expect politically or morally bold statements from Patriarch Irinej, and that is exactly what he presented this year! In a truly thoughtful and caring manner, Patriarch Irinej remembered those Orthodox brothers and sisters in Ukraine, Kosovo, Metohija, and Macedonia who are suffering religious persecution or violence at this time.
Patriarch Irinej said, “the suffering brothers and sisters in Kosovo and Metohija, who, although shackled down by non-freedom, deprived ot their rights and discriminated against, celebrate Easter as the victory of good over evil, life over death and the victory of the resurrection of Christ over the demonic forces of the darkness.”
This year at Easter, the Bridges to Serbia team is thankful for Patriarch Irinej’s boldness and is praying for everyone celebrating Easter throughout the world, especially those in Ukraine, Kosovo, Metohija, and Macedonia.
